Independent financier and production company Kerry, Kimmel and Pollack has acquired feature film rights to Marcus Sedgwick‘s novel “White Crow” and will co-finance and co-produce the picture, says Variety.
"The psychological thriller centers on a 16 year-old girl who moves to a sleepy seaside town with a deadly past, and discovers what’s on the other side of death.” Various reviews online call the book intensely scary, albeit misguided with the POV of three voices.
KK&P’s CEO Michael Pollack and prexy Mark Morgan (“The Twilight Saga”) will produce with Brett Hudson and Kami Garcia. Production is skedded to start in fall 2012 on Isle of Man, located within the British Isles.
Sedgwick has been nominated for the Carnegie Medal, an Edgar Allan Poe award, and the Guardian Children’s Book Prize.
